Job Title: Jr. Automation Engineer

Location: Auburn, NY (On-Site)
Job Type: Full-time, direct hire
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually depending on experience

About the Role:

We are seeking a Jr. Automation Engineer to support our automation team in the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems within our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of professional automation experience and come from a Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering background. This role is designed for an early-career engineer who is eager to learn, work on smaller-scale automation projects, and assist senior engineers in optimizing production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and configuration of subassemblies and systems, including end-of-arm tooling, automated conveyors, and fixtures.
  • Support automation engineers in troubleshooting and maintaining automated systems to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Work individually on smaller automation projects.
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to support automation initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist in performance monitoring and data analysis to optimize system efficiency and quality.
  • Help with the specification and selection of automation equipment, including mold robots, conveyor systems, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Provide technical documentation for automation processes, including system schematics, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss automation opportunities and process enhancements.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of hands-on experience in automation, controls, or manufacturing engineering.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of automation systems, robotics, PLCs, and industrial sensors.
  • Experience with CAD software for designing automation components.
  • Some exposure to PLC programming, robotics, or motion control is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and data analysis.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Eager to learn and grow within the automation field.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and production teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
